Christina Capra

DIRECTOR - PRODUCER - SCREENWRITER

Newly welcomed into the family/roster at McCartneyStudios.com, Director - Producer - Screenwriter Christina Capra carries forward a remarkable cinematic legacy as the granddaughter of legendary director Frank Capra and daughter of acclaimed producer Frank Capra Jr. Her family's contributions helped shape the golden age of Hollywood, with Frank Capra Sr. creating enduring classics like It’s a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and It Happened One Night. Frank Capra Jr. continued that tradition, producing celebrated films and leading EUE/ #ScreenGems Studios into a new era. Building on this rich foundation, Christina Capra brings her own voice to filmmaking, as a director, producer and screenwriter, honoring the timeless storytelling values of her family while forging her own path in contemporary cinema.

She was born in Hollywood, CA and grew up on the West Coast before moving to Wilmington, NC where she graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington with honors, with a degree in Film Studies.

In Christina's Words:

"I’m very passionate about film! Film is the one media that incorporates all the other art forms; music, art, theatre, photography, poetry. I believe film is a unifying medium that can connect people from all over the world, from all different backgrounds. The goal of any film should be to elicit a response in the viewer, the audience is the integral part of film. If you can make the audience feel something, that to me is a good storyteller."

Her grandfather was the Academy Award-winning director of such enduring classics as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and It's a Wonderful Life.  After moving to North Carolina, Capra attended the University of North Carolina where she earned her degree, with honors, in film studies.

Capra has directed short form documentaries, her latest film Lived in Bodies, had its world premiere at the Lady FIlmmakers Festival in Beverly Hills in 2024.

Lived in Bodies tells the story of artist Virginia Wright-Frierson, focusing on her commissioned work for Columbine high school after the tragedy occurred and her latest project: a series of oil painting representing nude women over the age of 65.

Capra is passionate about female lead stories and is now transitioning from short films to feature films.  Capra optioned the novel Poster Girls, by Meredith Ritchie and is taking the helm to produce and direct the film after penning the screenplay for it.

The screenplay recently won best feature screenplay at the Beaufort International Film Festival 2025.

Here’s her recent TeaFlix interview with Dr. Angie & Ruth McCartney.
